1. Whiteash – 365 yards Par 4
A fairly straightforward hole with bunkers strategically
placed on the right of the fairway to catch wayward
drives. A good drive should leave a mid iron to a flat
green. Avoid the further large bunker across the centre
of the fairway short of the green. |
2. Smirack – 390 yards Par 4 A good
drive should leave you with a short iron shot to a
slightly sunken green, which is guarded at the front, by
four bunkers - two at each side of the entrance to the
green. |
3. Firth – 480 yards Par 5 The
direction of the wind will dictate whether you are able
to reach the green of this par 5 in two shots. There is
a ridge running across the fairway short of the green
that has pot bunkers at either side. The flat green is
bunker free. The sensible shot would be past the ridge. |
4th Auchintae – 445 yards Par 4 The
whins on the right side of the fairway may come into
play from your drive. A good drive should leave you a
very long iron or fairway wood to a sunken bowl shaped
green. |
5th Morven – 434 yards Par 4 A
difficult par 4 that doglegs to the right. The whins and
gorse that line both sides of the fairway make the
accuracy of the drive important. The approach shot to
the green should avoid the two bunkers on the left and
one on the right of the green. |
6th Hollow – 192 yards Par 3 The
first of the par 3 holes and as the name suggests you
drive down into a hollow where the ground slopes from
left to right. You really have to hit the green to have
any chance of your par. Anything short will catch the
slope and run into any of the three bunkers guarding the
green. |
7th Burnside – 384 yards Par 4
Drive uphill avoiding the out of bounds which follows
the line of the hole on the right. Beware of driving too
far and catching the gorse on the left. A good drive
should leave you a mid iron to a flat green. |
8th Short – 167 yards Par 3 The
elongated green has three bunkers on the left and one on
the right. The green slopes steeply from left to right.
Pin position will dictate whether you use the natural
contours of this hole. Again beware of out of bounds on
your right. |
9th Road – 309 yards Par 4 This
hole gets its name from the tarmac road that borders it
on the right and defines the out of bounds. There is a
fairway bunker in the middle that will come into play
for the bigger hitters. Second shot is to a flat green
guarded by three bunkers. |
10th Seafield – 438 yards Par 4 A
difficult par 4. Where the fairway is cut in a dogleg to
the left there is a large rough grass bank in a direct
line to the green and not the recommended route to take.
Out of bounds again on the right. Large flat bunker
guards the left side of the green to deter anyone
playing into the 18th fairway. |
11th Muir – 308 yards Par 4 A short
walk is required from the 10th green past the clubhouse
to the 11th tee. This green may be in range for big
hitters depending on wind direction and should yield
plenty birdies and possibly the odd eagle. Narrow
entrance to the green guarded by two bunkers. The
cleverly contoured green means that the second shot must
be carefully considered. |
12th Plateau – 278 yards Par 4 As
named the green is situated on a plateau and guarded at
the front edge by two deep pot style bunkers. Played
well, this hole should give you a good chance of a
birdie. |
13th Sandy Bank – 151 yards Par 3 A
flat par 3 with sandy links style fairway. The flat
green is well protected with four bunkers that are all
short of the green. Make sure your tee shot is up |
14th Port – 396 yards Par 4 Drive
downhill from an elevated tee avoiding the gorse on both
sides of the fairway. On the right beyond the gorse is
out of bounds. This hole then climbs to a green that
slopes from back to front. Avoid the deep bunkers short
and to the left of the green. |
15th Gollachy – 220 yards Par 3 An
intimidating hole where you stand on an elevated tee and
drive over a valley filled with gorse and thick bushes
with the added hazard of out of bounds on the right. The
green is fairly flat and an accurate tee shot should
ensure your par. The view from the tee is spectacular. |
16th Long – 529 yards Par 5 As the
hole suggests this is a par 5 that requires a very
accurate drive to a narrow fairway bordered on both
sides by bushes. The hole open out for the second and
third shots and unusually for this course there are no
fairway bunkers. Beware the bunkers to the right and
left hand side of a flat green |
17th Arradoul – 291 yards Par 4
Everybody will stand up and think that this green can be
driven but it very much depends on the wind direction.
There are two deep bunkers straight across the middle of
the fairway to catch anything short. Should be a fairly
easy par 4. |
18th Home – 392 yards Par 4 Drive
to a fairly flat fairway with two new fairway bunkers
recently added. Again wind direction will dictate if
these bunkers are in play for the big hitters. The
tricky part of this hole is the second shot with a long
or mid iron dependant on the wind to a two tier
elongated green which has deep bunkers on the right and
left hand sides halfway down the green. This makes it a
difficult green to hit especially if the pin is on the
upper level |
